It that time of year again the Kilmaley Merithal warmly welcome all Parishioners to our Annual Fundraiser Event

We would like to thank all those who generously contributed to Meitheal last year, your generous donations go along way in funding Meitheal’s activities throughout the year with all money going back into the parish.

Kilmaley Meitheal is a voluntary organization carrying out activities on behalf of the parish. We receive some funds from the County Council but our funding does not contribute to all our activities. Each year we need to raise approximately €5000 to fund Meitheal’s activiities. All this money contributes to develop and improve our community which benefits us all.

Some of Meitheal Activities

Maintenance of parish amenities : Our Community Employment Scheme continues to be a vital resource to carry our maintenance of community facilities Thankfully we have 5 CE scheme participants based in Kilmaley and because of their excellent work the parish is looking amazing and we really appreciate their efforts. The maintenance of grass areas in in Inch and Kilmaley, graveyard maintenance, playground upkeep, Community center, Loughburke picnic area, and Kilmaley village footpaths & walking tracks are all kept in excellent condition by our CE scheme team led by supervisor Alan Troy. If you feel you may qualify to participate in the CE scheme or the RSS scheme for those with a herd no or from a farm family, please contact Alan Troy via email [email redacted]. One change to the community grants scheme this year is that we are not allowed to purchase new equipment so this year's fundraising will contribute in part to new maintenance equipment.

Community Play Ground :We are delighted to see our community playground continues to be a great resource for young families within our community, We continue to maintain equipment, playground and toilets facilities, and over the summer months we are spending €3500 in replacing worn soft surface areas in the playground and some minor equipment maintenance and replacement of equipment. Playground equipment parts are very expensive and your financial support is appreciated towards this maintenance.

Community Center Refurbishment: Plans are advancing for the complete refurbishment and extension of our community centre, we would hope to have design stage completed shortly and proceed planning application.

Bicycle Track: We have obtained planning permission to construct a bike pump track for and car park extension in Lisbigeen. Hopefully we can obtain funding in 2026 to progress the project further.

Meitheal Events: Our events such as our Parish Cleanup and community sorts day have been very successful this year and we thank everyone who have attended and helped in any way.
