Kilmactranny, Lough Arrow, Highwood Defibrillator
Donation protected
This Christmas marks the 12th Anniversary of my dad James O'Farrell (58) who had a cardiac arrest while being driven to the doctor with a pain in between his shoulder blades and up into his neck. Although he had no chest pain, these other symptoms are classic symptoms of Heart Attack.
With his untimely death as a motivation, I decided to set up community defibrillators in Kilmactranny and Lough Arrow. With the help of the community attending fundraisers and donating towards it, we successfully set up 2 units. We have now purchased a 3rd unit for Highwood, (thanks to the committee)
It is our aim to develop a Community First Responder group to attend calls prior to the arrival of the Ambulance service.
Our Credit Union account is now empty and we need money to replace the heated cabinets, replace pads, batteries and to set up the responder group.
As I know people won't give money for nothing, I am doing 12 cold water dips in December (Doon shore, Rosses Point), One to mark each year of my father's anniversary. €4000 is the target. The areas to be covered by the CFR Group will be Kilmactranny, Lake Road, Highwood, Geevagh and Ballyfarnon. I will post a map of areas.
On 17th December after anniversary mass and on 21st December, I will be in DoonShore at 12pm if anyone wants to join for these ones
Thank you everyone ❤️
