2015 S. Africa Student Volunteer
Donation protected
My name is Michael Kilkenny. International Student Volunteers visited the Missouri State University campus in October recruiting volunteers for several opportunities scattered across the globe . I went to the informational meeting the next day, learned more about the program, and immediately submitted my application to be considered as a 2015 summer volunteer. I explained my previous philanthropy efforts associated with St. Jude and Toys for Tots and received my acceptance letter shortly thereafter.
With six countries and several individual projects available, I read about the community development project in South Africa. Details of this specific project include spending time with and educating children on an array of topics including HIV/AIDS and nutrition. My name was written all over this project as most of you know children are near and dear to my heart.
Why the gofundme?
Many people have said, "Oh wow, I wish I would have done something like that when I was in school!" To date, family, friends, and clients have provided generous donations to push fundraising efforts over the $2,000 mark. The expenses of this trip will require at least an additional $5,000. I write this letter in hopes that the rest of my family, friends, and associates will assist me in reaching that financial goal. Any amount is wholeheartedly appreciated, and if you can't help monetarily, please take 30 seconds to share this on your favorite social media site.
Below, you will find a press release issued by the local paper regarding my trip as well as a link to ISV, the organization making these wonderful trips possible.
