Kilimanjaro February 2026 – In Memory of Elemie Rose Wainwright

In February 2026, Anthony Wainwright, Jamie King, Simon Anderson and Simon Gorman will begin an extraordinary journey — climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, rising an awe-inspiring 5,895 metres above sea level, the highest summit in all of Africa and the tallest free-standing mountain in the world — in loving memory of a little girl whose spirit will forever shine: Elemie Rose Wainwright.

At just 11 years old, Elemie’s bright, beautiful life was tragically cut short in a road traffic accident. In that single, heartbreaking moment, the world lost a light that can never be replaced.

Born on 10 July 2013 to Jodie and Anthony, and adored by her big sister Jersie, Elemie filled every day with laughter, warmth, and love. She had an adventurous soul, a fearless curiosity, and a rare gift for finding beauty in the smallest things. Her joy was infectious, her heart pure, and her presence made every day brighter.

Now, her dad Anthony — together with Jamie, Simon and Simon — will carry that same love and strength as they take on Mount Kilimanjaro: a mountain that stands proud and powerful above the clouds, reaching towards the heavens, just as Elemie’s spirit does.

Their climb will carry her memory from home in Sheffield all the way to the summit — a journey that mirrors her boundless energy, her love for adventure, and the way she was always reaching for the sky. Step by step, Elemie’s spirit will rise with them — in the stillness of the morning, in the warmth of the sun, and in every breath they take along the way.

Because this climb is more than a challenge — it’s a promise.
A promise that Elemie’s light will continue to travel, to shine, and to touch hearts wherever it goes.

The guys are funding themselves for the hike so all money raised will go to charities close to Jodie and Anthony’s hearts — chosen to reflect Elemie’s kindness, her compassion, and the love she gave so freely to everyone she met.

Every step up that mountain will be for her — for the little girl whose laughter still echoes, whose love still surrounds them, and whose spirit will never stop finding new horizons to explore.

The team will begin their seven-day Mount Kilimanjaro expedition on 4 February 2026, taking on Africa’s highest peak. A dedicated Facebook page has set up where you can follow their training journey and watch their progress all the way through to the climb itself.
