Kilcreggan Pier 1850
Hi,
My name is Richard Reeve and for many years I have been actively involved in the history of the Rosneath Peninsula.
Recently a scheme has been launched by Argyll Papers (the archives at Inverary Castle) to "Adopt an Archive". This raises funds to preserve old unique documents that have, for various reasons, deteriorated over time.
The document I would like to adopt on behalf of all those interested in local heritage is of an original construction drawing of Kilcreggan Pier dated 1850. It contains primary source information detailed on tracing paper which has become extremely delicate and damaged by folding. The cost of preservation will be £410 and I think it would be appropriate to raise funds and awareness by giving all those interested the opportunity to contribute. This will enable professional conservationists to preserve the document and enable wider access. Please contact me for further details of the conservation plan and to view an image of the document in its current state.
