***Update***
Thank you to those following Kierra’s journey. It’s been a hot minute and I wanted to update. Kierra is doing amazingly well. She’s my little girl again and the personal growth is astounding. She’s navigating this strict 12 month program with open arms, fully embracing the process and her success shows.
Her success is not based on her words alone. Monthly I get to attend a house zoom meeting where she speaks with me in a room full of her counselors and peers who are encouraged to come forward and share successes and areas of opportunity for growth. She’s knows as a rock star in the program. She’s on track to graduate in September. She’s just started working full time and can start contributing to her expenses.
I’m reaching out on her behalf as the monthly “rent” or treatment cost has increased and her paycheck will not be enough to cover her stay. It would be a shame for her to have to leave due to increasing cost of living.
Every little bit will help. We just need to get her through August then she’s a graduate and ready to move on to her next destination.
(Hopefully Washington with me)
Thank you in advance for taking time to read this message. My name is Amanda and I am Kierra’s mother. This request is to help pay for Kierra’s stay in a wonderful sober living facility.
In July of 2020 my daughter was witness to the brutal murder of her Grandmother and Aunt. She was living with my mother in my childhood home in San Diego, working and attending college. Sunday July 12, 2020 she woke up to a world of chaos and fear. The father of my sisters newborn baby came to the house and shot them both and abducted the baby. Kierra was unable to process the trauma and as many do turned to substances to numb the pain and push away the hurt. For the last three plus years we have been trying to get her to rehab without success. Finally in September a good friend rescued her and got her into detox. Kierra found her way into a private pay sober living facility. I knew she was dedicated to her healing journey because she paid for the first two months using the small amount of inheritance left by her grandmother. This shows she is invested in her recovery. I don’t have the money to pay the monthly fee and know two months is not enough time to recover from drugs and life on the streets along with trying to process the repressed trauma. I’m looking for support to get her a little more time to stabilize before she has to start navigating a full time job. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for taking time to read my request.
