Help Me Get to Kenya in 2026!

Hi, I'm Kiera Seed and I’m 13 years old.

I’m really excited (and a bit nervous!) to share that in 2026, I’ll be going on the adventure of a lifetime to Kenya with my school, Wade Deacon High School.

I first accepted this challenge when I was in Year 8, aged 12, and I’ll be 15 years old by the time I go. It’s a 4-week expedition, and I’ll be spending time in three different areas of Kenya, getting involved in amazing things like:

‍ Community Development Work

I’ll be reading with local school children and joining in with community activities – helping to build stronger communities and learning loads along the way.

Environmental Projects

This will include planting seeds, cleaning beaches, and even helping to build classrooms and homes to support local people. I’ll also help with small construction jobs like putting in clean water supplies for whole villages!

Wildlife Conservation

This is something I’m really excited about – I’ll be working with local people to help reduce conflict between animals and humans, and even deworming goats to improve people’s health and lives!

AND… I’m Going on Safari!

I’ll get the chance to see the Big 5 (lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards and buffalo) and take part in sea turtle conservation in the Indian Ocean – how amazing is that?!

This trip means the world to me. I’ve never done anything like this before, and I really want to help others, see the world, and learn new things. But I need to raise money to make it happen.

It’s not just the trip – I’ll also need around 8 injections for all sorts of things (that part scares me the most, to be honest!).

A Personal Reason Why This Means Even More...

When I told my Grandad about this trip, he gave me £100 straight away and said he was really proud of me – even if he thought I was a bit mad! Sadly, he passed away in August 2024, and I miss him so much. I’m even more determined now to go and make him proud.
