Who Are We?

Kidz Theater is an organization focused on developing the talents of young performers who are passionate about musical theater. We offer classes and productions for a diverse community of performers ages 7-18, offering scholarships to many students who couldn’t otherwise afford to participate. We believe strongly that a bright future of a diverse Broadway starts early, and we prepare our students for that future by providing them with the strong training they need to have successful careers.

With the help of a strong group of peer leaders we strive to teach professionalism, discipline and strong technique within a safe and supportive environment. Our Main Stage productions push social justice issues to the forefront, and through strong storytelling, our performers get to use their voice make a statement about the world.

Kidz Theater produces 3 mainstages and 2 intensive productions per year. Each year, our seniors are accepted to top musical theater BFA programs, and go on to successful careers. Our alumni include Ben Platt (Pitch Perfect, The Book Of Mormon, Parade), Micaela Diamond (The Cher Show, Parade), Lola Tung (The Summer I Turned Pretty) and more.

What Else Does KT Do?

In addition to performance opportunities, we also train young technicians, stage managers, directors, and all of the disciplines it takes to bring a musical to life. This program is designed to keep teenagers, college students and young adults developing their skill set to have long-lasting careers in whatever aspect of theater they choose.

Why Fundraise?

Kidz Theater gives over $50,000 in scholarships each year! This campaign only scratches at the surface! The cost of producing a show in New York is astronomical. A typical production can cost between $50,000 and $75,000. While we charge a tuition fee for our performers to partake in the process, we understand that not everybody can pay this fee. We want to keep Kidz Theater accessible to everyone, including performers of diverse backgrounds, and in order to do that, we need to raise funds for a robust scholarship fund.

Each dollar donated through this campaign directly funds our scholarships for performers who cannot afford tuition. Our mission is to never turn away someone who wants to learn; this money goes into making sure we have the materials, the time, the staff, and the space to dedicate to learning.
