Kids starting over after losing mom ..

Hi, my name is Joanne and I'm fundraising for my son and grandchildren who need to start over after recently losing their mom.

About two weeks ago, my two young grandchildren, Riley 12 and Lylah 10, lost their mom unexpectedly. Due to various reasons, their dad had not been able to see them for a few years but missed and loved them very much. The children live in Ontario but dad lives in Alberta. He immediately flew back to Ontario to ensure they knew they weren't alone and had a place to go and plans began to take shape for the kids to move back to Alberta with dad. In the blink of an eye he became an instant full time parent to children he needs to move across the country and prepare his home for from scratch. While his house is big enough, he doesn't have anything for the children to start fresh. Due to the distance of the move, many of their things will have to stay behind. This is proving to be very costly and we've made the difficult decision to look for help. Any funds we can raise would go towards the cost of flights for the three of the from Toronto to Calgary, as well as all the things the children need such as two sets of bedroom furniture and decor, some new clothes and toys for them to feel at home and if there is anything leftover, to cover their dad being able to take just a bit of time off work to spend with them while they adjust and get settled. Unfortunately they won't be able to bring many of their favorite things or toys and the hope is to give them some things to ensure they get to keep feeling like kids through all this and have some basic comforts, things to play with and a comfortable space where they can grieve and learn to move on. The priority of course is flights and proper furnishings.

These kids have been through a lot in their young lives and are now facing life without their mom, something no child should have to feel. Our only hope is to make it as easy on them as possible and get them situated and stable as soon as we can.
