Hi! We are Bette and Fana. We are 7 and 8 years old, and we are the daughters of the founders of Bette Buna. A coffee company that grows coffees ánd communities in Ethiopia.

One of our favorite places in the world is our parents' coffee farm in Taferi Kela, a small coffee-growing community in Ethiopia. Whenever we visit, we spend our days playing with the children there. We run around, play with mud, kick footballs, laugh a lot, and make new friends. But as we got to know our friends better, we started asking lots of questions:

"Why don't they have a football club or sports club like we do?", or "why don't they have fun activities after school like we have, where we learn new things and spend time with friends?¨. And "Why do so many children stop school, and are hanging all day on the streets? And why are they still so young? What will they do when they grow up? Don't they have dreams too?"

And then we asked our parents one more question: "What if we could help create these opportunities together?"

That is how the idea for the Bette Buna Kids Club was born.

We collected all of our toys, clothes and combined it with our pocket money and made it happen to secure a football field for a year, a coach and a few balls for the first year. Together with coach Sentayu we scouted 32 boys and 32 girls, and now we need your help to make this project really happening, and help our friends dream bigger, of a better future.. and pursue their dreams. We need more educational and sports material, outfits, money to compete in the country, build a classroom, include the parents in the project and make our friends visible.

Football is our first step. Not only because everyone loves it, but because sport teaches so many important things. It teaches teamwork, confidence, discipline, respect, perseverance, and how to support each other as team and community. We like to add once a week a life skill class, with topics about hygiene, health, reading skills, computer skills, coffee courses.. we cant dream big enough! Because together with our friends we really can change the future of our coffee community Taferi Kela.

With 30.000 euro we reach our goal to cover the first year of this important project, mainly to do the investments. A step in ending the poverty in our Taferi Kela community, and where we as kids can transform our own future.
