George Erin’s Kidney Transplant

Hey everyone,

First off, I just want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported me through my lung transplant eight years ago. I still don’t know who donated or how much, but your kindness and generosity meant more to me than I can ever express.

As some of you know, my kidneys stopped working in August 2023, and I’ve been on hemodialysis three times a week ever since—which, to put it simply, keeps me alive.

But now for some incredible news! On March 13, in just a few weeks, I’ll be receiving a planned kidney transplant. It’s exciting and a little daunting, but what keeps me going is the thought of finally being able to do all the things I’ve been missing—swimming with my son, throwing him around in the pool, going on roller coasters with him, and taking him overseas to show him how incredible this world is.

Recovery from a kidney transplant is just as tough as a lung transplant, with plenty of risks and challenges along the way. One of the biggest stresses is covering the cost of post-transplant accommodation, transport, and everything else that comes with it, so I’ve set up a GoFundMe to help lighten the load. If you’d like to contribute, I’d be incredibly grateful, but just sharing the page or sending some encouragement means just as much.

I’ll say now what I couldn’t bring myself to say last time—I am beyond grateful. The generosity of others has always overwhelmed me, and I know I wouldn’t be here today without it.

Much love to you all—friends, family, and everyone in between.
