Hello,

Thank you for donating to our youth. They need us.

Background on The Kid Economy

As a part of the Creative Business Leadership program, SCAD’s graduate candidates have to create and execute a successful venture; the venture that I, MonA Hayslett, have chosen to devise is The Kid Economy.

The Kid Economy(or The KE ) pilot program will consist of six educational lessons; three entrepreneurship/financial literacy lessons and three fashion lessons over the course of 4 weeks. Three students from grades 6-8th will be chosen based on either an application or a recommendation letter. This program will take the students on a business journey beginning at product development continuing through the launch of their sustainable fashion business.

At the end of the program, the students will sell their clothing through a virtual or in-person auction (dependent on Covid-19 Regulations, TBA). This auction will be planned by the students and the coach, MonA. In addition, 85% of the profit from the auction will go to students, 10% will go to funding the future students of this program and 5% will go to the coach of the program. The date of the auction is August 15th, as we get closer to August more details will be posted.

It's very important for me to create a program for my final project that I believe in and that has a positive impact on communities like the one I grew up in. I look forward to working with three students and am so grateful for your donations!

Please continue to come back to this page and to visit our website/social sites for updates on the program.

Mission
Kid Economy’s mission is to cultivate an allegiance to economic growth in underrepresented and under-resourced communities through youth entrepreneurship development.

Vision
Kid Economy’s vision is to provide a program that allows kids to not only dream of what they want to be but to start becoming. Kid Economy believes that there is no age requirement to foster financial freedom and that there is no set path for achieving it. We believe that community power depends on every member in the community and strive so that we raise entrepreneurs of substance. We hope that this program inspires our youth to discover their passion young so that they can use its monetary value to inspire and revitalize their communities and lives.
