Hi, my name is David Sampé, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Kevin Burno.

Kevin has been incarcerated for over a decade after a conviction in 2015 that never should have happened. He’s currently fighting to prove his innocence through a 23-110 motion filed with the D.C. courts—armed with new evidence and a confession from someone else who admitted to the crime.

I’ve known Kevin since he was a young child, and I’ve seen his strength, his heart, and his determination firsthand. While locked away, he’s lost his mother and his grandmother—his biggest supporters—and yet he continues to fight with dignity and vision.

I’m fundraising not just to support Kevin’s legal battle, but to help him land on his feet when he comes home. We’re building a plan for long-term stability—one rooted in purpose, creativity, and self-sufficiency.

Kevin’s goal is to sell 1,000 copies of his book and advocacy apparel (shirts and hoodies) to raise money for:

Legal support, including a private investigator and a collision expert to help prove his innocence

Reentry needs, like housing, food, and transportation

Launching an online store, with help from District Clothing and Legit Styles, so he can generate his own income

Kevin’s story has already reached thousands—his video appeal has over 200,000 views and counting. Now, we’re asking for just 1,000 people to step up and support his journey.
