Kevin Euceda's Support Fund
Donation protected
Kevin was a young starving orphan living in extreme poverty when he was forcibly recruited by MS-13 after they took over his deceased grandmother's home. He actively resisted the recruitment, and in retaliation he was beaten, tortured, and threatened with death by gang members on a regular basis and put under a regime of 24/7 surveillance and brutal intimidation tactics. With no one to turn to for help and under extreme duress, Kevin had no choice but to complete errands for the gang. True to form, the gang began demanding more and more, and Kevin resisted as he could. After a few years of forced involvement, the gang told him that he needed to kill someone with his own hands to prove his loyalty and earn full-member status. At this point, Kevin decided to flee Honduras and seek protection in the United States.
What happened once he arrived is described in the story published on 2/16/2020 by the Washington Post:

The outreach and support for Kevin in response to his story being published on the front page of the Washington Post has been overwhelmingly positive.
This fund will be held in trust for Kevin by his legal team to be distributed to him upon his release from detention. The fund will help him establish his life in in the United States if he is released here, or to provide life-saving resources for him if he is removed to his home country.
We are tremendously grateful for Hannah Dreier's excellent reporting. Our team is also eternally grateful for all of the kindness that has been expressed and for the solidarity extended to Kevin. We have shared with him how much support he is receiving and he has told us that he is speechless.
We are working on a strategy for all of the different offers for help we are receiving, including many offers to provide free mental health services to Kevin in detention, and also offers to write to him or pass along messages of support! Please continue to reach out to us!
Thank you!
