Keruv Levavot is a community group of local Israelis brought together around a commitment to strengthen our community and create a space for Israeli social and cultural connections. Being a Jew in America is not easy, and it's even harder to be an Israeli that passes on an Israeli identity to your children. We are members of the Israeli community in Portland, come together to build and strengthen an Israeli community here and connect it with the larger Jewish community and surrounding civic groups.
Accordingly, we've adopted a group charter, formed partnerships with civic groups such as the IAC, JCC, local synagogues, and local businesses, and created three standing committees dedicated to the evolution of the organization, Israeli-American cultural connections, and an Israeli community in and of itself. We have received a $2500 grant for initial operations and a partnership with NCSY for an upcoming Hannuakah event, and are about to host the first Eitanim course in Portland in partnership with the IAC. All this has been done with a group of twelve families in just a few months.
"קירוב לבבות" הוקמה על מנת לפעול לחיזוק הקשר בין יהודי פורטלנד לבין ארץ ישראל והקהילה הישראלית, כל זאת עם הוספת תכנים ופעילויות מגוונות למען רווחת הקהילה הישראלית והיהודית. אנו פועלים בהתנדבות בשיתוף פעולה עם ארגונים יהודיים כמו ה IAC, JCC, NCSY , בתי כנסת ועסקים מקומיים, ויצרנו שלוש ועדות קבועות המוקדשות לפיתוח הארגון, חיזוק הקשר לקהילה היהודית וחיזוק הקשר לקהילה הישראלית. קיבלנו מענק של 2,500$ עבור פעולות ראשוניות ושותפות עם NCSY לקראת אירוע חנוכה הקרוב, ועומדים לארח את קורס "איתנים" הראשון בפורטלנד בשיתוף עם ה-IAC. כל זה נעשה עם קבוצה של 12 מובילות ומובילים בקהילה אשר מתנדבים בזמנם החופשי.
