Kerry COVID19 Tablet Campaign
Donation protected
Garrett Thompson and I live in Rathmore, Co. Kerry, with our 3 boys, Alex, Neil and Karl.
Over the last few days, our boys have been restoring donated iPads, tablets and smart phones to set them up so that they can be used by nursing home residents as well as local people who are cocooning.
While I am a speech and language therapist (and will admit to being a bit obsessed with communication), this is independent of my own job, and has been driven by the boys. They've needed tech to connect safely with their friends and family and now want to make sure that others who may not be able to access iPads and tablets don't miss out. By using technology, families and loved ones can communicate and support each in the safest way possible. Being able to watch mass online, connect with family, and get reassurance when needed is vital.
While we have received donations of used tablets to date, we need to raise money for the purchase of more:
- Tablets
- Wi-fi access (e.g. mi-fi & mobile credit)
- tablet cases
- stands for tablets
- headphones with microphones.
We would appreciate any support you can give.
Please donate.

Please get in contact if you can help..
*If you have devices that you wish to pass on to us please contact us. (We can turn around donated tablets faster than ordering online.)
*In Ireland we have some fantastic companies who know the value of being able to connect and support each other. Please get in contact. I'm sure you can help.
*If you have solutions to the challenges of wi-fi access, please contact me.
*If you work for or have friends working for Three Ireland, Vodafone, Tesco Mobile, EirMobile, GoMo, LycaMobile please contact me.
*A huge shout out to Ciara Close for her advice based on her experience funding tablets for Irish hospitals (https://ie.gofundme.com/f/covid19-tablet-campaign).
Alex, Neil and Karl have gotten great results with abandoned tablets. They can do so much more with more. Our communities need this.
