Kenyan refugees move out of shipping container

The Community Photobooth is on a mission to raise $10,000 for Gizzim Photography, an organization that helps young refugees from Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan, as well as vulnerable youth in Kenya, learn professionally applicable photography skills and escape poverty.
The purpose of Gizzim is to help these youth escape poverty by learning photography skills that can sustain them professionally and financially. Gizzim seeks to empower their students to become leaders in their communities by telling their stories through the lens of the camera.
Our team of youth photographers at The Community Photobooth was shocked to learn that Gizzim is currently operating out of a shipping container and has limited access to basic equipment—lights, air conditioning, etc—and, more importantly, the precious photography equipment that gives their students a way to earn money for themselves and their families.
That's why, this August and September 2023, we are striving to raise as much funds as possible to (1) purchase a larger portable classroom space, (2) lights, (3) air conditioning, and (4) recycled DSLR cameras for the students. We need your help to make this dream a reality.
Donate:
- $100 - Funds a new light fixture for their classroom
- $500 - Funds an attachable camera lens for a Gizzim student
- $1000 - Funds a full DSLR camera and give a Gizzim student a lifelong way to sustain themselves financially
- $2000 - Funds an entire new shipping container unit that will expand their teaching space
- Or any amount, big or small, will transform the lives of these students
Thank you for your consideration. We hope you will give to help these youth escape poverty through photography.
