My name is Jackie, and I am a sophomore at Redwood HS. I attended Bacich and Kent and was fortunate to go on the 8th grade trip to Washington DC. That experience is why I’m doing this fundraiser. Put simply, the cost of this trip is not funded or sponsored by the school and not every 8th grader can afford to go. Whether you have an 8th grader this year or not, please consider giving to this effort in support of our community as a whole.

For me, seeing the historic sites we had learned about in class was great but the best thing about this trip was that it was also a culmination of my elementary and middle school years. Traveling with 90+ of my friends and peers on planes and buses created memories that will probably last for the rest of my life. I believe this trip should be available to any 8th grader at Kent who wishes to go.

This year, the trip will cost $3,699 per student. The cost has increased because this year’s trip will also include a visit to Boston. Last year alone, using GoFundMe, we raised $4,885. Over the past few years, this type of fundraising has allowed thirteen additional students to go to DC on full or partial scholarships.

Wouldn’t it be great if we could replicate this success for Kent’s Class of ‘24?
