Volunteer Firefighter Ken Lundgren’s Medical Bills

Donation protected
Kenny grew up in Silver Bay, MN and has resided in Shafer, MN for the last 30 years.

Kenny has spent the last 20+ years working as a garbage man or "Sanitation Engineer", as he liked to tell his family. He has picked up garbage in communities all throughout Chisago County for SRC/Town and Country Garbage and now Waste Management.

When he wasn't working, Kenny volunteered much of his time to the local community. He has enjoyed being a member of the local Almelund Lions Club for the last 20+ years holding the postions of Zone Chair, President, and Vice President. During his tenure with the Lion's Club, he has worked concessions every Thursday during softball/baseball season, worked the beer tent at the Almelund Threshing Show, cooked for the Annual Pancake Breakfast, and helped with Almelund Apple Festival.

Kenny has been a Volunteer Firefighter/EMR for 28+ years with the Shafer Franconia Fire Department. One of his favorite things about being a firefighter has always been the community events and outreach such as National Night Out, the Annual Pancake Breakfast, and the Annual Open House/Fall Dance. He has responded to thousands of fire calls, car accidents, and medical emergencies. During his time with SFFD, he's held the positions of Asst. Chief, Training Officer, Safety Officer and Lieutenant.

Late Tuesday, March 28th, Kenny was taken by ambulance to Fairview in Wyoming where they found a large blood clot on the right side of his brain. Wyoming Fairview then referred him to the U of M and was immediately taken there via ambulance. The U of M performed surgery attempting to remove the clot but were unsuccessful due to narrowing of the artery.

He is currently at the U of M in the Neurology ICU. He is unable to move the left side of his body and is having trouble with speech and vision complications. His length of stay is unknown at this time and his wife Mary, son Tyler, Daughter-in-law Sarah, and granddaughter Stella will be traveling back and forth to visit and be by his side daily until he is stable.

As we all know, insurance only goes so far. Kenny and Mary's income has significantly changed. With mounting medical bills, continued daily living expenses, future rehab and care for Kenny.

If contributing is within your means, it will be greatly appreciated and will relieve unnecessary stress and burden for Kenny's family. The family appreciates all of your prayers, support, and generosity.
