Kelvin Lucas and his fight against Cancer

Donation protected
Kelvin Lucas, one of Roffey FC's top first team players and our good friend, has recently received a devastating diagnosis of Stage 4 bowel cancer. He must now undergo urgent treatment to increase his chances of winning this battle. Kelvin was playing 1st team matches until mid September this season when he had to stop, and at the time was Roffey FC's top scorer by miles, helping us get to the top of the Div 1 SCFL table. The news has come as a massive shock to everyone that knows Kelvin, but he has been incredibly strong in the diagnosis stage and is going to put up one hell of a fight. We want to help.

Kelvin has a huge passion for football and is a popular figure within the Sussex football scene, due not only to his pace and goal scoring, but his class on and off the pitch. Away from football Kelvin is an amazing Dad and just an absolutely top bloke.  He is only 35 years old and we want to raise awareness of bowel cancer and show that even the fittest and healthiest of people can be affected by this at a young age. We also want to raise funds to go towards his treatments, as well as supporting him and his young children through this tough time when he will be unable to work.

So, over the weekend of 4th & 5th May 2024 Roffey FC Chairman and First Team Manager, Phil Gibbs and Jack Munday, along with Kelv's friends Matt Munday, James Ferrar and Tiago Andrade, will be cycling a round trip of 161 miles, stopping at 20 Sussex SCFL County League grounds. The start and finish will be at Kelvins' club Roffey FC. We will work our way across to Crowborough FC, down the coast via Eastbourne United and Town, back to Worthing FC and many more clubs in between. The home straight will be from Kelvin's old club Alfold FC, down the A281 into Horsham to finish our journey back at Roffey FC where we hope there will be many club members and friends waiting to raise more money (and a few drinks) for Kelv. The journey will be the equivalent of London to Brighton...but 3 times over!!! It will be tough, however it will be nothing compared to the huge battle Kelvin will be tackling.

We are asking you to help us raise as much money as possible, with all the SCFL football clubs, players, supporters and anyone else reading this, coming together to raise awareness and raise funds to help Kelv and his young children through this very very tough time. Thank you for your support.
