- Hello, I'm one of the extended family of Kelsey Downey. I'm Aunt K. Although I may be the one typing, this is the joint effort of many who are looking to give Kelsey some practical help. Last summer, Kelsey, and her whole family for that matter, were blindsided by a pain in her lower back- that grew into a very painful and dreaded disease. Cancer. Kelsey is a Registered Dietician at Columbian Presbyterian in NYC. She is a dedicated nurse who sees to it that the many patients she's worked with are equipped with the right dietary needs as they continue healing post-op. Now Kelsey goes on an unplanned journey to another hospital, Hackensack Meridian (& the John Thuere Cancer Center) for an aggressive fight against the stage 4 cancer that has settled itself into her lower back. Over the past months, Kelsey has not waivered in her determination to beat this monster. Along with her dedicated doctors, nurses, specialists and pain management teams, Kelsey and her family have been focused on getting her well. Meanwhile, although they make up an extraordinary family, they are not of extraordinary wealth. As most of us can attest, even short stays within the hospital, and medical treatments far less serious, can drain family savings. So, as she continues to focus on regaining her health, we are hoping to raise some funds to help with the many present and future bills that need to be paid. I realize there are many in these circumstances, so I also have to say this would be a comfort to Kelsey's parents (Matt & Steph) and would be so appreciated by the whole family!!!
