Kelly's Ride for 5: Charity Ride Across America

Hello!  My name is Kelly O'Keefe and I am riding across the United States from San Francisco to Savannah to raise funds and awareness for FIVE incredible causes that will benefit from your kindness and my 3,600 miles in he saddle!  I work in the veterinary industry, so two causes will directly support veterinarian wellbeing and animal health.  Cancer research and support are another two causes very close to my heart.  We all have someone in our lives who has been affected by this ruthless disease (all forms).  I had a good friend lose his life in 2019 to pancreatic cancer, and my wife, Shelley, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the end of February, this year.   ALS, a.k.a. Lou Gehrig's Disease, is the final cause for which I will be pedaling.  My boyhood idol, George Brett, always gave his all on the field, and now he is incredibly active in raising awareness and funds  for research and support to finally find a cure for this destructive disease.  I am stepping up to the plate to follow in his footsteps and help get one mile, one climb, and one foot closer to a cure for ALL FIVE of these great causes:

1- Not One More Vet (Suicide awareness and support for veterinarians)
2- World Vets (Veterinary projects in developing countries)
3- ALS Association (Lou Gehrig's Disease/Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis)
4- Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance (There is NO current screening for ovarian cancer...)
5- The V Foundation for Cancer Research ("Don't give up. Don't ever give up!").
 
I will be making my way across America on my bike for a two-month trip. I am hoping to have a majority of the $10,000 by July 20, as to know the amount we will be working with and effectively budget for the two months away. The funds I am asking for are for the following expenses:

-bike supplies, repairs and parts
-daily meals for myself and my support vehicle driver
-accommodations and fuel for my support vehicle
-cycling wearables with all five charities displayed for awareness
-plenty of water!
