Kelly's Brain Surgery and Recovery

We are currently raising funds for Kelly Walter, a true pillar of Ocean Beach Unit 1, Lavallette, NJ, who recently suffered a life-changing accident. Any contribution, regardless of the amount, will significantly impact Kelly's life and help her on her road to recovery.

Kelly was involved in an unexpected and tragic accident while riding on the back of an electric bike. The driver hit a pothole, causing Kelly to fall off and suffer seizures. She was rushed to the hospital, where it was discovered that she had three brain aneurysms. Two emergency brain surgeries were performed, and two of the aneurysms were successfully clamped. Unfortunately, the third aneurysm was inoperable due to swelling of the brain, and Kelly will need to undergo additional brain surgery in the near future.

Kelly spent three weeks in the ICU, where she faced several complications, including vasospasms. However, despite these medical obstacles, she was able to pull through and continue her fight. Nevertheless, her recovery won't be easy, and she will require long-term care. Kelly is currently regaining her physical strength, but it is unclear when she will be able to return to work. In the near future, she will be transferred to a rehabilitation center that specializes in memory care, where she will work hard to regain her mental and physical strength. Though the road to recovery will be challenging, Kelly is a fighter.

Kelly, a dedicated employee of Bay View Cafe (most currently known as Sunset Keys by Ricky’s Bagels) has been proudly whipping up delicious entrees for many years. She has worked in various restaurants throughout Lavalette, NJ (i.e. Crabs Claw Inn). 

She is a reliable and gentle soul, and her work ethic is unparalleled, with a level of dedication and commitment that is almost unimaginable. In addition, Kelly is currently grieving the loss of her life partner, Chandler Johnson, and has been struggling since his passing on April 12, 2022. Just as Kelly was starting to regain her footing, this tragedy has become a significant financial setback. We are trying to ease the financial burden that Kelly will now face. Kelly has always been a selfless person who puts others first. She is a loving and loyal daughter, sister, cousin, granddaughter, and friend. Whenever someone needs help, Kelly is always there to lend a hand. She is the kind of friend who will do whatever it takes to make sure everyone around her is okay, and she will always show up for you, no matter how exhausted she may be.
