Kel and James running for Feel the Magic
Some of you may have heard of Feel the Magic, a charity that is very close to my heart after losing my husband 7 years ago and James left to face life without a father.
Feel the Magic has been an invaluable support network for us as a family, and given James the tools to use on his grief journey.
But James isn’t alone. Did you know that 1 in every 20 Australian children aged 7 - 17 will experience the death of a parent?
Feel the Magic provide grief education and support to bereaved children and their families to help alleviate the pain and isolation felt by the loss of a parent, sibling or legal guardian.
Feel the Magic normally hold a City2Surf fundraising event each year, last year raising over $50,000. Unfortunately due to COVID-19, that can’t happen this year.
Fathers Day is never an easy day for us. I even feel a sense of guilt that my dad survived the same thing that took James’ dad. He should have his dad here to celebrate on Father’s Day, and every day.
So this year on Fathers Day, rain hail or shine (ok maybe not hail) James and I are going to go for a little run to raise money for Feel the Magic. I am going to complete a half marathon (21km) and James is going to run 10km, both of which neither of us have done before.
We would appreciate any support you can give
