Hi, my name is Sonia. I am acting on behalf of The community of Torrington.
We are wanting to help Keith and Dianne in this shocking time of their life. Our goal is to raise money to give directly to them to help lift some of the burden which they will face.
In the early hours of Thursday morning, Keith and Diane Blessing’s peaceful life in Torrington was shattered by a horrific and violent home invasion.
Keith, 75, and Diane, 72, were asleep in their home when an intruder allegedly forced his way inside and attacked them with a knife. Both suffered serious injuries during the terrifying ordeal. Despite being wounded himself, Keith fought desperately to protect his wife and their home. After the attacker briefly retreated, he allegedly attempted to force his way back inside again. Fearing for their lives, Keith used a legally owned firearm to stop the attack, no doubt saving their lives.
What happened to Keith and Diane is something no family should ever endure.
This fundraiser has been created to support the Blessings as they begin the long road to recovery — physically, emotionally, and financially. The trauma of such a brutal attack is unimaginable, especially for a retired couple who simply wanted to enjoy the peace and quiet of country life.
The Torrington community has rallied strongly behind Keith and Diane, who are still in hospital. Hundreds of people from far and wide have expressed their concern, support, and desire to help. Many fear the couple may now face significant medical expenses, ongoing recovery costs, security upgrades to their home, and potentially substantial legal bills as the events of that night continue to be investigated.
Keith and Diane are respected members of the community, known for their kindness, resilience, and quiet generosity - giving away fruit, caring for wildlife, and otherwise just good people. Now, they need the support of the wider community to help them through one of the most difficult periods of their lives.
Every donation — no matter how small — will help ease the burden on the Blessings and allow them to focus on healing and recovery rather than financial stress. Funds raised will go directly to the Blessings for medical costs, rehabilitation, counselling, home repairs and security improvements, and any legal expenses that may arise.
For those unable to donate, simply sharing this fundraiser and keeping Keith and Diane in your thoughts means a lot.
This was an unthinkable act of violence that has deeply affected not only Keith and Diane, but the entire Torrington and wider New England community. Let’s stand together and show the Blessings that they are not alone.
Thank you for your compassion, generosity, and support.
