KEEP THE BUTTERFLIES IN ONEONTA!
We need to raise $10,000 In order to be able to get through the winter!
It has been a few years since we did a fundraiser for the Butterfly Conservatory.
As many know, we had to close for about nine months due to a combination of issues beyond our control. We managed to reopen, but still haven't got back to where we used to be.
With the fall/winter seasonal drop in conservatory visitors, plus heating the exhibit against frigid outdoor temps, it is going to be IMPOSSIBLE for us to make it through the winter without your help!! PLEASE consider making a donation of any amount to help our critters!! We appreciate all of our faithful local guests who love our exhibit and want to see us remain in the area! We also appreciate our traveling guests from all over the country who love us and hope to make return visits each year!! We really need $20,000 this winter to survive!
For those of you who don't know us, our collection of approximately 200 unique tropical birds, reptiles and other small animals require heating in this part of upstate New York, where our snowy winters drop to outdoor temps of -.20 or even colder. If you are not local, please visit us if you can! Keep checking our go-fund-me page for more photographs of our unusual collection of critters and please support the efforts of our unique conservatory!
PLEASE consider making a donation of any amount to help the cause if you would like to see us remain in the area. We need $20,000 to make it.
ABOUT THE POPP BUTTERFLY CONSERVATORY
We are a bird and small animal exhibit with butterflies during the warm months. All of the many animals who live here get along with each other in a harmonious, sanctuary setting. We do not rehome our animals or trade them like cars as many places do. We know them and care for them for life We don't "get rid of" the ones who aren't "bringing in the bucks." The animals who live here have a rich environment and the company of animals different from themselves who, at the same time, are not a threat to them. This keeps life interesting. We sometimes jest that we allow the visitors in to amuse them.
This is a peaceful place for all who live here and those who visit. That is what we strive for.
The exhibit is highly educational, with animals representing all 5 classes of vertebrates. There are excellent examples of warning coloration, cryptic coloration, rainforest plants , edible plants, examples of different bird beaks, coloration, etc., and how they relate to that bird's lifestyle. The examples are too numerous to go into here, but you get the idea. One can see animals and insects here they've never seen before, and glorious tropical butterflies in the summer.
We don't gouge the public, charging for every little thing. Need a wheelchair? We are so happy that you came, and offer you one to use for FREE.
Our senior discount is way better than most, at more than 20%!
Would your child like to feed the fish? No, that won't be $3. It's free.
We have not raised our prices for years, although this may have to change.
If you do care about the Butterfly Conservatory and its home in Oneonta, we urge you to help. Any amount will benefit the conservatory and the animals who call it home, for life.
Thank you in advance for your support! Please help us get the word out by sharing our campaign with those who might like to help.
