In 2016, I entered into relationship full of hope and was optimistic about our future. My optimism only grew once I gave birth to our beautiful baby girl Nyla. Unfortunately, after moving to NY in hopes of creating a loving home together, my optimism quickly turned into doubt and fear.  Almost immediately, he became verbally, mentally, and physically abusive. His erratic behavior regarding basic communication and family time triggered me into a consistent state of anxiety. After seven months under those conditions I had enough. I decided to move back home but COVID hit and so I waited. Time passed, his reactions worsened and I became overwhelmed with fear for my safety and well-being. So, I left him and took Nyla with me. My decision to protect myself has landed me in a custody battle for the love of my life. Heartbreakingly, I have to remain in NY, court hearings have been pushed back since August, her father isn’t providing any child support and now I'm faced with coming up with enough funds for Nyla and I to survive until December 2020. My fear is that his financial advantage will put me in a difficult situation to have a fair fight in court and his  intentions to drag out court dates intentionally trying to hurt me. To all my loved ones, family and friends I need your help. Everyday, costs are high financially, emotionally, and mentally. Please help me fight for Nyla and our physical and mental well-being.
