Hi everyone! As most of you know, after 2.5 years I finally got the chance to testify against my ex in court, who also is Grace's dad. The last time he hit me was May 24, 2019 when I was pregnant with her. I thank God I did not miscarry that day! I've had a restraining order since before she was born until recently. Anyways, the jury found him not guilty unfortunately so in the eyes of the law, it just "didn't happen" and I know he's in the works of getting it expunged off his record. It's pretty devastating to have gone through all of this just to have it swept under the rug. Anyways, what I'm asking for today is donations to go towards me being able to hire a good family lawyer. I've recently filed for child support as I do need the financial assistance from him. I am in school working towards my counseling degree and working as a barista at Starbucks while raising her full time. I'm one tired, but of course happy and blessed Mama. Also, it took two people to make this baby so I feel it is just as much his responsibility as it is mine to provide for her. My fear is that he will try and get unsupervised visitation and I do not want that as I do not trust him. He claims he's sober, but I haven't seen or spoken to him in 2.5 years and what I do know is he's picked up a new assault bodily injury charge as well as a resisting arrest charge. So that tells me his anger issues are not under control and I can't fathom leaving Grace with him unsupervised. So I'm trying to get ahead of this process and be prepared by having legal representation to help me convince a judge that he needs to take anger mangement classes, take drug tests, and DEFINITELY have supervised visits only. I know that when he finds out I've filed for child support he will not be happy about me "taking" his money and him getting nothing in return. I will gladly prove to you all that any and all donations go towards paying the lawyer I end up using to help me. I'm meeting a very good family lawyer on Thursday Oct 21st, who I know is very expensive, but I want and need the best of the best to help me keep Grace safe. She's barely 2 years old and I take the job of motherhood very seriously. Especially having procreated with such a sick individual I am extra careful and very intentional with every move I make in regards to her. I am happy to answer any and all questions and if you can't donate I'd appreciate you sharing this link as maybe someone you know will donate! I have no idea what my lawyer will cost by the end in this situation, but I know the one I'm meeting with's hourly rate is A LOT.
