Keep Woody's Spirit and Music Alive

Hi. My name is Jennifer Windham. I am one of the owners of The Woody and daughter to Woody. We are a family that has always loved music, people, and entertaining our friends. Our father, Woody Windham, was the inspiration for The Woody. Our family business has been around for a little over 14 years and recently had to close due to the change of life after Covid, losing our father, going through business ups and downs, and just trying so hard to keep a family dream going that went through more turmoil than any one family deserves. Our father was an inspiration to so many people, none so much as us, in his ability to make someone smile, laugh, decide to help others, dance, or just feel a kind of joy that’s lost to so many people these days. He wouldn’t want us to give up on our dreams or his, and so in true Woody fashion, we are going to try to raise money to keep the dream alive. We were raised to be strong, independent women, so just know asking for help is a HUGE thing for us. We don’t want to give up and we need your help. We put everything we had into opening the original Woody and then had to close to relocate. What we hoped would only take 6 months, took 9 months. We opened for a month and Covid hit. We had to close for 3 months, then we could reopen until the following March but only at 50% capacity and we had to close at 11 pm. We had two decent years and then liquor liability was becoming unattainable. Everything skyrocketed after Covid. Overhead became impossible to keep up with, but instead of giving up we focused on carrying on. At the same time, our father fell and broke his back in 2021. He was in the hospital for 47 days, had surgery to repair his two broken vertebrae while Mackenzie and I worked on a 2-show brunch with our mom alone in the waiting room for 8 hours, on and off a ventilator twice, got a tracheotomy, had to go through rehab, wouldn’t have the ability to walk for over a year without help, if ever again. What a time to be trying to spread joy with strangers every night, while also trying to stay strong for our families that needed us.

So here we stand now, on the precipice of giving up, but instead, we are asking for your help. We aren’t asking you to send us a lot of money, nor would we ever, but in the spirit of giving, if you find it in your hearts to give $1 to our family to help us keep this dream alive we would forever be grateful. We don’t want to give up and I know Dad would say, “You never know until you ask.” #longlivethewoody #dontstopbelieving
