Help us stay in the NRV

I wanted to wait until we finally got back and settled into the NRV before posting an update. As of last Wednesday, we had gotten everything back to NRV that we could. The landlord. What can I say? During the move out, she managed to get the electricity and water turned off almost to the minute the movers showed up. That started a domino sequence of problems which made the move take longer and much more expensive; we stayed 5 nights/6 days in the condo with no heat, electricity or water because we didn't trust the landlord. When we returned to Burke last week to get the few things we put in the front hall closet, she had changed the locks. (We don't know where those things are; my best guess is in the garbage.)

As one friend said, the NoVa experience for me turned into a nightmare every which way I went. It's almost unbelievable to me and I'm the one that experienced it.

BUT, I have to say this GoFundMe has surprised me in so many ways. Friends, family, and friends of friends half way around the world have contributed. I feel so unworthy of having such kindness and generosity shown to me. When I've had such bad experiences with some awful human beings, it is so good to know that there are still good people in the world.

Thank you all! I hope that goodness follows each and every one of you every day of your life.

So, where does that leave me, mom and the guinea pigs? We're in my house in Christiansburg, I'm still searching for a new job and have no idea where that will lead.

Friends and Family,

I don't post as much on Facebook because I'm not on here very often, but I need a favor of you now.

The situation: 1) Job ended in December (a story in itself); 2) I've been keeping up 2 households, 1 here in Burke and my house in Christiansburg (and sometimes, mom's, too); 3) We ended up with a landlord who has taught me many things (not) to do if I rent again.

Without another job lined up, we're coming back to Christiansburg for a while. We're putting the majority of our things in storage and will return to my house in Christiansburg, which coincidentally never got put on the market. Whether it's long term or not depends on where my next job is.

I find myself broke, both financially and personally. I've been leaning on a few friends and they suggested swallowing my pride and asking for help through GoFundMe.

We are moving, putting things in storage and extricating ourselves from a landlord and I find myself in need of a bit more money than I've been able to scrape together.

Thr last year has been personally and professionally disappointing and discouraging and now, here I am, hat in hand.

Help me get get myself and mom back to the NRV.
