Hi everyone, and happy holidays. My name is Tomasia, and I’m asking for help for my mom and my little brother, who are facing eviction right before the holidays. My mom has always been a hard-working woman, but this past year she has truly hit rock bottom while trying everything she can to keep a roof over their heads.
After moving from Florida to Georgia last December with the promise of support, she and my brother were mistreated and forced to leave before she was financially stable. She spent months couch-surfing and paying for hotels before finally securing an apartment—but because she couldn’t afford the full deposit upfront, she’s been paying extra each month. Her hours at work were cut for months, and the late fees and deposit payments pushed her deeper into a hole she couldn’t climb out of.
Now, despite picking up a second job and riding my brother’s bike to work to make ends meet, she has been given a sudden eviction notice. She now must pay $4,045 total of incurred debt towards rent.
As her oldest child, I’ve been trying to help, but after suffering my own accident, losing my job, and being evicted myself this summer, I simply don’t have the ability to give her what she needs. So I’m turning to the kindness of others.
If you are able, any amount helps. Every donation goes directly toward keeping my mom and little brother housed. And if we can’t meet the full amount in time, all funds will go toward securing them a new safe place to stay.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to anyone who can donate or share. And if you can’t give, please keep my family in your prayers. God bless you, and happy holidays!
CURRENT UPDATE: With the donations that have been sent so far, that have gotten my mom halfway to her goal, my mother and her landlord have come to an agreement that they will take the partial payment from all the donations raised. However, she will need the other half by the end of January 2026, so about 2000 more dollars! My mom has already used every dollar from the GoFundMe so far for her partial payment, and we are so grateful for those who have sent their support so far, because it has given my brother and my mom extended time to keep their home, and keep them safe and warm.
