Give Tien One Last Fighting Chance

Dear friends, family, and community,
You're reading this page because Tien Ho, our beloved sister who is currently incarcerated at Northwest Detention Center, has one last chance to stay in the US with her young child, husband, and mother. We are asking for your support to help her have that fighting chance.
We are fundraising for her legal fees that currently amount to $10,000. This is the initial $6,000 for post-conviction relief support, and probable $4,000 to continue her fight in the case that lower courts don’t move in her favor.
Tien is one of the victims of the crimmigration system where the criminal legal system and immigration detention system conflate to isolate, punish and oppress immigrants.
Unknown to many, immigrants who are persecuted by the criminal legal system also become targets for the deportation machine. Tien was sentenced to three years for a domestic violence case, for which she served her time.
After that, she was transferred immediately to Northwest Detention Center to face deportation, where she was made to wait years (during which her 3 month old son had to grow up without her) for appeal decisions to be made.
Legal options are confusing and tedious, needing a lot of costly legal expertise. Tien has been resiliently fighting her deportation order through all the options available. She is pursuing options through immigration court, as well as through criminal court.
Currently, Tien is urgently seeking legal options that will allow her to stay with her family and loved ones. This legal pathway is urgent and is the last chance she has at being reunited with her family in the U.S.
Two years in the ICE detention center, with no end in sight, has been demoralizing and exhausting. Tien wants to see her family, hold her now four-year-old child, and share meals with her loved ones.
She came to the U.S. as a child, and Washington is where she has set down roots, built community, and taken care of her family. She is vital in holding together a multi-generational, multilingual household, and a beloved, valued member of her community.
As mentioned above, we are fundraising for her legal fees that currently amount to $10,000. This is the initial $6,000 for post-conviction relief support, and probable $4,000 to continue her fight in the case that lower courts don’t move in her favor.
Every little bit counts, and every thought from the community gives Tien encouragement to keep fighting her fight. Please contribute what you can to support Tien in gaining her freedom!
