Keep the Snow Castle Alive in 2020!
For 24 years Yellowknife has had a magical snow castle for the month of March.
This castle has brought joy to so many of us over the years - young and old. Slides, music, weddings - and many tourists have flocked here!
Today, due to unseasonably warm weather, the Snow King and his crew had to announce the premature closing of the festival. After 2 full months of construction from a dedicated crew looking to bring magic to Yellowknifers young and old, I can't imagine how sad they are to see their creation melting right before their eyes.
But there is a real financial penalty that comes from early closing: lost admission fees, tickets for bands and acts booked from down south that are already paid for. Next year's castle's budget will be seriously affected by this early closure - and next year makes TWENTY FIVE YEARS OF SNOW KING.
Please Yellownife, lets do what we do best - lets help make up for the losses this warm march has meant for the Snow King's Winter Festival. Give what you can, especially if you've loved the snow castle as much as I have over the years.
