Every dollar you donate will not only help these Northside small businesses stay afloat. Every dollar will ALSO be gifted to Mercy Hospital healthcare professionals in the form of gift cards for Northside small businesses.


The Mission

Iowa City Northside locals and lovers of the Northside District:

As we face a worldwide threat on a grand scale, as we practice ghostown-level social distancing in our own day-to-day lives, as we watch the storefronts we love shut down, and our loved ones fight to protect themselves and their loved ones—and their loved ones, and theirs, and so on in the wide net cast over everyone—now is the time to remember that it takes a village.

This GoFundMe was started with the small, simple mission to support Northside businesses while giving back to the Northside healthcare professionals working tirelessly to care for those affected by this pandemic. We're starting small, we're starting local in the hopes that this mission will expand far beyond our small pocket of the city, state, country...


How it Works

Every dollar you donate will be distributed evenly between the five, local Northside small businesses partnered with this GoFundMe.

Each business will issue gift certificates (in the amount that totals their respective donation from this campaign) to healthcare professionals at Mercy Hospital. 


For example, if this campaign raises $5,000:
Each business will receive $1,000
$5,000 worth of gift cards/certificates will be distributed to the Mercy employees who opt-in to receive this thank you!



And yes, we know that the recipients of the gift certificates may not be able to use them any time soon, but this campaign is founded on the conviction that we will get through this. We will see beyond the current crisis to some semblance of normalcy, despite many many losses.

We will arrive on the other end of this with a stronger community, a community that has a newfound sense of the worth of every single member in it—every interaction, every cup of coffee or bar-stool chat, or Goosetown poptart shared between friends—and every staple within this community that makes the Northside home.
