Keep The Nitecap Alive: Support Independent Comedy

A little more than 4 years ago now, I opened the doors to The Nitecap with a dream: to create a truly independent space where comedians could perform freely, audiences could feel at home, and creativity could thrive without corporate interference. The vision was simple but powerful—to build a safe haven for comedy, a place where everyone from seasoned pros to rising talent could come together and create something special.

What I didn’t anticipate was just how much this space would mean to people. Over the past several years, The Nitecap has grown into a vibrant, welcoming community. We’ve hosted countless unforgettable nights filled with laughter, vulnerability, experimentation, and connection. It’s become a place where people feel seen, where regulars return not just for the comedy but for the sense of belonging they find here.

But keeping this dream alive hasn’t been easy. Running an independent venue without major backing comes with daily challenges—rising costs, low profit margins, and unexpected setbacks. I’ve been doing everything I can to keep the lights on and the stage lit, but I’ve reached a point where I can’t do it alone.

That’s why I’m asking for your help.

This fundraiser is about more than just survival. It’s about preserving a space that matters—to artists, to audiences, and to a city that needs more authentic places for expression. Every dollar raised will go directly toward rent, utilities, show production costs, and keeping our staff employed so we can continue to offer the shows, the atmosphere, and the opportunity that people have come to love.

My vision for The Nitecap is big. I want to offer even more programming, bring in bigger acts, support underrepresented voices, and continue proving that independent comedy spaces are not only possible—they’re essential.
