My name is Adam Phelps, a former Hebron resident. I am the original Maple Leaf mascot from the Hebron Maple Festival. Originally, I started this to spread cheer to the Maple Festival. It was a lot of fun since around 2014, and the kids absolutely love the mascot. What started as a costume at a pancake breakfast led to walking around town, dancing, spreading cheer, and riding hayrides during the tractor pull. Now, I currently live in Florida. Thankfully, Michelle from the Flour Girl Cafe has helped keep the Maple Leaf mascot tradition alive the past few years.
I am starting this GoFundMe to raise money to get a new costume. The older costume is slowly falling apart and needs some repairs. I intend to donate the costume fully to the Maple Festival, primarily Michelle, since she has taken the role the past few years. I also intend to put "some" logos on the costume to show sponsors for those who have helped me throughout the years to promote the Maple Fest, though this will be limited. This will make sure that the mascot is officially a part of the Maple Festival moving forward.
The Maple Leaf has been a popular mascot and has accumulated 650 followers over the past year on Facebook. The Facebook page is here: https://www.facebook.com/hebron.leaf
I honestly believe I can raise this money in due time. If not ready for the 2025 Maple Fest, I at least hope to get the costume ready for 2026 and beyond. I am looking to raise at least $1000.00 for the costume. The costume to buy varies among different providers, but with the added logos and possible accessories, we could be looking at around $1000.00. I am hoping to raise enough money and if there is an excess, I intend to donate the rest to a nonprofit group associated with the Maple Fest, such as the Hebron Historical Society.
After talking with Michelle and others about the Maple Leaf costume, it was suggested that I start a GoFundMe page, so please contribute if you can. If you would like your "relevant" logo on here as well, please ask, though I intend to keep these limited so they do not take up much space on the costume. Your help will be greatly appreciated in this process to keep this tradition alive!
