Keep the Kookaburra Cinema

Hi there,

My name is Karen Beale and together with my friends; Karen Mummery and T'Anne Mills, we are creating a Not for Profit organisation to Keep the Kookaburra Cinema.

Peter the current owner of the cinema wants to sell however he would like it to be owned by the community, as community asset. To ensure the long term sustainability of the cinema it would be operated by volunteers with a volunteer Board.

We believe the cinema is a local icon and it would be terrible to see it close. A community meeting held in Mundaring on 5th July was attended by around 80 people who all want to see the cinema running.

We are in discussions with Telethon Community Cinemas to go forward with a possible joint venture however it is vital to us that the Cinema maintains it hills vibe and that any profits down the line are kept local.

As the NFP is not yet registered all funds collected will remain with Go Fund Me to allow for refunds should the project not get the support required.

Please help us keep our beautiful outdoor cinema.
