We want to be open and transparent with everyone about why we’re asking for support.

Recently, The Dice Project was hit with a much higher energy bill than expected. We’re actively working behind the scenes to address this, but as a small, non-profit community space, unexpected costs like this have a real knock-on effect.

Everything we do here is funded out of our own pockets so we can keep this space warm, welcoming, and accessible. There’s no big budget behind us, just people who care deeply about creating a safe place for others.

The Dice Project exists because tabletop role-playing games matter.

Sitting around a table, creating characters, solving problems together, and telling stories builds connection, confidence, communication, and belonging. For many people, this isn’t just a gaming café. It’s a routine, a lifeline, and a place where anxiety eases and friendships grow.

We are proud to be a safe space for all ages. After school, kids and young people come in to spend time with their friends, play games, and grow in confidence in a supportive environment. Adults come to unwind, reconnect, and feel part of something. No matter your age or experience, there is a seat at the table here.

Mental health matters. Community matters. And not everyone has a space where they feel safe showing up, taking up space, and being themselves. That is what we are working to protect.

What’s meant a great deal to us is that the people who already know about this situation have immediately started asking how they can help. The ideas, encouragement, and offers of support have been overwhelming, and it’s been a powerful reminder that this place belongs to the community just as much as it does to us.

Funds raised here will help us cover essential running costs, including our recent energy bill, so we can keep the lights on, the tables set, and the space open for everyone who relies on it.
