Across October I will be swimming the entire length of the Channel (34km) to fundraise for Southwark Day Centre for Asylum Seekers.

Every week this small charity provides hot lunches, advice, healthcare support, English classes, and a safe, welcoming space for over 100 people who have fled danger in search of safety in the UK.

SDCAS are part of a movement actively challenging the hostile environment and general misinformation around migration, and are a critical source of support and kindness against the tide of hate and discrimination directed against migrants.

But an unprecedented demand for their services, as well as large funding cuts have put the charity’s future at risk.
