Two iconic Soho restaurants, Violets and MedCafe, are at risk of closing due to licensing challenges and escalating compliance costs. These venues are more than restaurants—they are cultural landmarks and community spaces that represent the spirit of Soho.
Violets was named after Violet, the legendary 93-year-old “Queen of Soho,” who brought wit and charm to the West End before passing during Covid. Ali Aksu, who shared a close mother-son bond with Violet and cared for her for many years, created these spaces to keep her legacy alive.
Today, complex regulatory requirements and ongoing compliance reviews have placed these businesses under severe financial strain. Ali urgently needs your support to cover legal fees and safeguard these cherished venues.
Your contribution will help preserve two cornerstones of Soho’s identity and ensure that its unique character continues to thrive. Please share this campaign and stand with Ali, Violets, and MedCafe—because losing them means losing part of London’s soul.
No amount is too small. Every donation brings us closer to saving Soho.
Thank you for your generosity and commitment to keeping Soho vibrant.
