Title:
** ENDED - GOAL MET ** Keep Sandy Vans Rolling for the San Bernardino Free Flight Community
The Story
For over 10 years, Sandy and her Sandy Vans have been more than just a shuttle ride to launch; she is one of the heartbeats of the Andy Jackson Flight Park in San Bernardino, CA. If you’ve flown Marshall or Crestline, chances are Sandy and her vans were probably the ones that got you safely to launch.
Sandy has voluntarily operated two 12-passenger vans that are over 20 years old, providing timely and affordable transportation to launch for local and visiting hang glider and paraglider pilots. She and her vans help make Andy Jackson Airpark flying accessible to everyone. Without her, getting to launch would be extremely difficult for most of us.
Why We Need Your Help
The past few years have been a perfect storm of financial challenges for the Sandy Vans, which have directly led to higher than normal maintenance costs. Keeping two older 12-passenger Econoline vans safe and reliable for mountain roads is extremely expensive. Unscheduled repairs, routine maintenance, and soaring inflation over the last two years have drained her reserves, resulting in an uncertain future for the Sandy Vans.
The Goal: $5,000
We are looking to raise $5,000 to stabilize Sandy’s ability to continue providing convenient van rides to launch. These funds will go directly toward covering recent emergency repair bills and building a maintenance fund for upcoming tire replacements, brake repairs, and engine services. This will allow Sandy to keep the current voluntary $20 ride donation sustainable for our free flight community.
Sandy has volunteered her time, energy, and smiles for us for over a decade, ensuring we spend more time in the air and less time worrying about the drive to launch. Now it’s our opportunity to give back to her.
Whether you’re a local regular or a visiting pilot who enjoyed a ride to Marshall or Crestline, please consider donating. No amount is too small to help keep the Sandy Vans rolling! Thank you!
