Rockdale Community Market is a nonprofit Market serving the Rockdale community and the Milam county area.
It is run by a wonderful board of volunteers, who have often had to go into their own pockets to keep the Community Market going.
Recently, they went before the City of Rockdale, during the Council Meeting on April 14th, 2025 applying for funding that they’ve received in prior years, grants, etc that they qualified for, but were told they “filled out the wrong application.”
Then, the city council members proceeded to take a public stance on a personal matter, that the board of the market- has zero connection to.
They were treated very unprofessionally, unethically, and frankly, quite childishly and inhumanely. All because I myself, Emily Connell, have spoken out about serious issues in our community, how some local businesses bully, steal, and degrade others, (personal to me and my experiences)
and I am a vendor at this market, and have donated the space for them to hold the market.
Now, they are attempting to take it out on The Rockdale Community Market.
Please help us reach their $10k goal so they can continue to bring the awesome support for our local artisans, crafters, produce growers, creators alike. They have done so much good in this community, now let’s show them how goodness comes back full circle.
Every little bit helps.
The funds will go towards events that benefit and fundraise for local kids sports, the local animal shelters, Veterans, food banks, school supply drives. You name it, The Rockdale Community Market loves to offer a helping hand.
Their aim is to keep the market free of charge for the local vendors and entrepreneurs (including the Young Entrepreneurs Program), and to supply the community with free a free location, free community events,
a thriving Community Market, and a Saturday morning Staple.
