Help Us Reunite Before Christmas

Help Keep Our Family Together in Canada
My name is Lena, and I am reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support during one of the most difficult times in our lives. My husband, Erick, and I have been waiting for his permanent residency in Canada for several years. We submitted his sponsorship application in 2023, received approval from Quebec in 2024, and have been waiting for Immigration Canada to finalize the process. I have passed the eligibility process to sponsor him, our sponsorship application is processing but not at a fast enough rate.
Despite this, we are now facing a deportation at the end of September. The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has been purposely ignoring our deferrals aswell.. My husband, Erick will be in Mexico trying to secure an Authorization to Return to Canada (ARC) and a visitor visa so he can come back to our family. The immigration process is stressful and slow, and while he waits he will face major barriers to finding steady work in Mexico. At the same time, I need to stay in Canada with our daughter Julie because she has ongoing health needs and our access to subsidized housing and supports is limited right now.
We are asking for help to cover:
• Erick’s basic living costs in Mexico while he fights his immigration case (rent, food, travel to legal/medical appointments).
• Legal and visa-related fees (ARC, visitor visa application costs, any urgent fees for travel or paperwork).
• Essential support for our household here in Canada — childcare, groceries, and emergency housing expenses — so Julie’s health care and my schooling are not interrupted. Why this matters:
Julie’s health means it’s far better for us to remain in Canada. Erick being away is causing financial and emotional hardship for our small family. We are trying everything to reunite before the holidays and are hoping he can come back before Christmas — but we need help to bridge this gap.
How your donation will be used (estimated):
• Erick — living costs in Mexico (3 months): $1,800–$3,000 CAD
• Visa/ARC/legal fees and document expenses: $800–$2,000 CAD
• Household support in Canada (groceries, childcare, possible short-term housing assistance): $1,200–$2,000 CAD
Transparency & updates:
We will post regular updates on this page showing how funds are used and the status of Erick’s applications. If any funds remain after we’ve reunited, we will use them for medical care and resettlement costs for our family.
$10 — helps cover a few days of groceries for Erick.
• $25 — helps pay for travel to an appointment.
• $50 — contributes to visa/filing fees.
• $100 — covers a week of rent where he’s staying.
• $250+ — meaningful support to bridge larger legal or housing expenses.
How else you can help:
• Share this campaign on social media and with community groups.
• Send resources for low-cost legal help or housing supports in Mexico or Canada.
• If you can’t donate, sharing this page makes a huge difference.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. We’re a small family doing everything we can to bring our dad and husband home. Any amount helps — and your sharing and prayers matter as much as donations.
With gratitude,
Lena, Erick, and Julie
