I'm Rev. Christy Kass, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Hutchinson, Kansas. I've learned that the wonderful woman who runs our local soup kitchen, Stanley Murdock, is in need of a chair lift at the soup kitchen building. Stanley has run the soup kitchen for 33 years - she is a familiar face to many people in our community. She works tirelessly to help those in need. Stanley has reached out to a few of us to let us know that she can no longer go freely up and down the stairs of the Christian Soup Ministry building as she needs to, and many of the volunteers who help out have the same issue. If she can get a chair lift installed, she will be able to continue her ministry at the soup kitchen. Without it, she will need to finally retire.
I'm starting this fundraiser in the hopes that we can raise the $16,000 needed to get a chair lift installed at the soup kitchen to help Stanley and others navigate the stairs so they can continue this vital ministry to our community. Our church deacons volunteer there regularly and we contribute financially, as do many other churches and organizations in town, but $16,000 is a hefty sum. If we all contribute a little, we can give Ms. Stanley the help she needs to continue the ministry that helps so many in our community.
Thank you and God bless!
