I’m raising funds for my sister Michele, her baby, and her husband Luan, a young family caught in an incredibly difficult moment.

They came to the U.S. seeking asylum after years of abuse and threats. Their case was accepted for review, and they were in the process of getting their work permits and legal documentation.

But before that could happen, Luan was detained by ICE while working to support his family. He has no criminal record and no deportation order, his first asylum hearing isn’t until 2027.

Now Michele is completely alone with their baby, who isn’t even a year old. She can’t work, has no childcare, and is terrified of being detained herself and separated from her child, who is still breastfeeding.

No matter where you stand on immigration, this is about keeping a mother and baby safe, housed, and together.
