Keep Maple Avenue safe- help us with legal fees!
Donation protected
Thanks to the support and advocacy of the community, the administrative law judge ruled against the developer who wanted to put a large development at the end of Maple Avenue. This development would create unsafe walking conditions for the narrow road, a significant increase in traffic at an already dangerous intersection (Dutton Avenue/Maple Avenue/Frederick Road), and have devastating environmental impact by building so close to the 100 year flood plain. tax the bursting Catonsville infrastructure (schools, etc.).
As expected, the developer has appealed the decision and we need to organize our testimony for the Board of Appeals hearing (date TBD- likely the end of April). Please help us raise money to offset the legal costs (which we estimate to be $10,000) AND stand up to overdevelopment in our community. If every person who signed this petition donated $5, we could meet our goal. Thank you to those of you who can donate more. If for some reason, we don't spend any of the money (because someone steps forward to support us pro bono- hint, hint), donations will be refunded. Any money left over at the end will be donated to non-profit organizations in Catonsville.
If you'd prefer to donate directly to the cause (and help us save the 3% fees that GoFundMe charges), feel free to donate via Venmo:
Please reach out to [email redacted] if you are interested and available to help us research case law/codes and/or develop our testimony or have any questions.
