Keep Jorge's family together - stop an unjust deportation

An unjust deportation threatens to tear apart a family we care for deeply as neighbors, coworkers, and friends. We need your help to prevent our friend Jorge from being permanently separated from his wife and children.

Due to a court deadline, the family has just a few weeks to raise the funds needed to take legal action that could bring Jorge home. Your contribution could make the difference in keeping this family together!

Jorge is an extremely dedicated father, a supportive husband, and a hardworking provider who has lived in the U.S. for over 37 years. He is now facing needless deportation and has been detained for 5 months. His wife and children miss him every day.

Jorge used to read his six year old daughter a bedtime story every night. It was one of her favorite things, and she does not understand why her dad disappeared and she gets a phone call from prison instead. Her older siblings know what is going on and are struggling to maintain hope.

The family has tried their best to manage on their own, cutting every possible expense and borrowing money from relatives, but they are at a point where they cannot continue without help. After months of carrying this quietly, the family reluctantly decided to be more public about the case. The family lives in a diverse area of Greater Boston that has been terribly impacted by ICE attacks. Jorge’s family hopes that sharing this story will raise funds to bring him home and also remind others they are not alone.

Until he was detained, Jorge worked multiple jobs in construction and flooring to provide for the family. Now, his wife is struggling with everything from rent to utilities to groceries. She cannot afford the full cost of an immigration lawyer alone. The family reached out to many legal aid agencies, but all were overwhelmed and unable to help. So the legal filing that is now urgently needed can only be moved forward if we raise $20,000 to pay the private immigration attorney recommended for this type of case.

Donations made here will go to pay these legal fees. If anything is raised beyond that it will go toward the family’s basic needs like utility bills and groceries. Your kindness and compassion could truly change lives by keeping this family together. This is a way to directly help in the struggle against unfair immigration policies and the heartbreak of family separations. Every donation and every share is deeply appreciated.
