My name is Reynaldo, and I’m asking for your help to support my beloved husband, Llimmy (Jimmy) Rodriguez-Jimenez, as he fights to stay in the country he has called home since 1996.
Jimmy fled Cuba nearly 30 years ago—a place where, as a gay man, he faced persecution, imprisonment, or worse. He crossed into the U.S. seeking safety, freedom, and a future. He found all three here. Since then, Jimmy has built a full and beautiful life: he has no criminal record, pays taxes, holds a social security card and work permit, and is married to a U.S. citizen—me.
Jimmy is a loving, hardworking, talented, creative and compassionate human being. He’s a gifted ballet dancer, a passionate teacher, a proud rescue dog dad, and a loving member of his community. He teaches at two dance schools in Miami, inspiring students not just in movement, but in confidence, discipline, and self-worth. He is respected and deeply loved by colleagues, students, and their families.
But on May 27, 2025, Jimmy was detained during his annual immigration check-in. He’s been held in multiple ICE detention centers since. We’re doing everything in our power—working with lawyers, filing documents, calling congressional offices—but the legal fight is slow and expensive.
We believe Jimmy's original appeal in his immigration case decades ago was mishandled or never processed properly. Despite years of good faith efforts to fix the situation, the system has failed him. Now, we urgently need support to cover:
Legal fees and motions to reopen his case
Bonds and court filing costs
Housing expenses while Jimmy is detained
Travel, documentation, and related support expenses
We’re trying to keep our home intact for when he returns. Every donation—no matter the size—makes a real difference in giving Jimmy the chance to come home and continue the life he’s built with love, hard work, and grace.
If you can’t give, please share. If you have contacts who can help or amplify his story, please reach out.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!
