A Heartfelt Plea for Help for Jim & Linda
My name is Sandra and I am a social worker trying to help a couple who I crossed paths with recently. Meet Jim & Linda.
Jim and Linda never imagined they would be here—asking for help simply to keep a roof over their heads.
They are retired, living on a fixed income, and have always done their best to live quietly, honestly, and independently. But circumstances beyond their control have brought them to a place they never thought they’d face: the real possibility of homelessness.
The apartment Jim and Linda currently live in is being sold, and they must relocate. Unfortunately, the cost of moving and securing another apartment is far beyond what their limited income allows. Assisted living is not an option financially, and they are still in the long, difficult process of applying for Medicaid to help with the daily support they now need.
Linda’s health challenges have been severe. What was expected to be a minor surgery turned into a devastating five-month hospital stay. She came close to losing her life multiple times. Today, Linda relies on a feeding tube and must live in a clean, stable environment to stay safe and healthy.
Jim has also faced serious medical issues of his own. There are days when his condition prevents him from even getting out of bed. He is unable to work and does everything he can just to care for Linda and keep them going.
They are not asking for luxury. They are not asking for more than they need. Jim and Linda are simple people who are praying for something most of us take for granted—a safe place to live.
Any financial support will go directly toward helping them relocate: securing a new apartment, covering moving costs, and ensuring Linda’s medical needs can be met in a clean, stable home. Even a small donation can make a meaningful difference.
If you are unable to give, please consider sharing their story or keeping them in your prayers. Your kindness, compassion, and generosity could be the reason Jim and Linda are able to stay housed and safe during one of the most frightening times of their lives.
Thank you for reading, caring, and helping in any way you can.
