Could you help buy Jack’s first drumbeat for next year?
Jack in the Green returned to Ilfracombe in the most wonderful way this bank holiday, with a fantastic turnout, smiling faces, music, dancing, flowers, families, performers, and the community coming together to celebrate this beautiful May Day tradition.
It was wonderful to see the town feel so alive — with people out enjoying the procession, visiting local businesses, supporting small traders, shops, cafés and eateries, and making the day feel really special for Ilfracombe.
The event is run with a huge amount of volunteer time and goodwill, but there are still real costs involved in keeping it going each year.
Our first fundraising goal is £400, which will help cover the cost of Samba Baia Drummers from Bideford, whose drumming brings so much energy, joy and atmosphere to the procession.
If just **200 people donated £2**, we would reach that first goal and help keep the drumbeat going for next year.
Anything raised above this first goal will go towards the wider costs of keeping Jack in the Green going, including flowers, materials, performers, insurance/admin costs, parade expenses, dressmaking for the fairies, hall hire for workshops, and Maypole practice sessions.
There is absolutely no pressure to donate — your support, photos, cheers, flowers and smiles already mean the world. But if you would like to help keep Jack marching through Ilfracombe next year, any contribution will be gratefully received.
Every donation helps keep the drumbeat going.
Thank you for helping keep Jack in the Green alive in Ilfracombe.
